Outreach
The Outreach Subcommittee aims to ensure that any group, meeting, or individual who wishes can be connected to our service structure, receive services, and participate in the NA service structure. Outreach is about OVERCOMING ISOLATION. Isolation comes in many forms: long distances, natural obstacles, cultural differences, and prison walls. Outreach does not intend to duplicate the efforts of other service committees.
The Outreach Subcommittee performs its function by:
- Conducting subcommittee meetings within the Outreach Subcommittee guidelines.
- Preparing a report for each RSC meeting.
- Available to answer questions from the region.
- Prepares an annual budget for submission to the RSC.
Additional Needs Point of Contact
The primary purpose of the Outreach Subcommittee’s Additional Needs Point of Contact is to effectively convey the message to the still-suffering addict by guiding groups, ASCs, subcommittees, conventions, and the RSC of the South Florida Region on accessibility for members with vision, hearing, mobility impairments, and the senior population.
The Additional Needs Point of Contact performs its function by:
- Reporting and being responsible to the South Florida Region Outreach Subcommittee.
- Educate groups and areas regarding meeting accessibility and update as requested.
- Provide workshops for areas, regions, conventions, and events as requested.
- Make suggested guidelines for listing accessibility on the meeting list.
- Work with the Regional Contingency Plan (for RSCs and conventions) to prepare for those with disabilities.
- Maintaining contact with state and federal agencies, except when necessary, would compromise NA’s primary purpose.
If you would like more information or to become involved in the Outreach and Additional Needs Subcommittee, please review our regional policy for qualifications and duties or contact the chairpersons. The Outreach Chair and Additional Needs positions are currently open.
